Lakeside Queens FC whip Bayelsa Princesses 3-0 in Aba

Lakeside Queens FC of Ogun defeated Bayelsa Princesses 3-0 at the ongoing Nationwide Nigeria Women Football League promotion play-off at the Enyimba FC Stadium, Aba, on Monday.
Lakeside Queens opened the scoring through Farida Olawuni in the 27th minute from a well-taken free kick outside the 18-yard box.
Olawuni made it 2-0 for the Ogun Queens in the 44th minute, ensuring her team entered the interval with a win.
The goals continued after the interval through Chioma Dickson, who put the ball back into the net after the opposition goalkeeper parried it to her side.
The Ogun Queens stood their ground and took home the three points, despite the late surge from the Bayelsa Princesses.
In his post-match interview, Oyededi Hammed of Lakeside Queens said he was satisfied with the players’ performance.
“Though we did not meet up with our expectations because we planned to win the match with 10 goals to nothing, we could only manage three goals.
“As it stands now, I am happy we kept a clean sheet in the match, and we are going to continue to put touches on our lapses and come back stronger. My team did well because they are young players from Senior Secondary Schools two and three, and I like their passion for the game and encouragement in the field of play,” Mr Hammed said.
Meanwhile, other matches produced scintillating results as Kwara United Queens played out a goalless draw against Spanky Blazers FA.
Also, NAF Queens FC’s hope of surviving Ubakala Babes FC 3-1 in the first 45 minutes became impossible as they collapsed in the second half with another three goals.
The match ended 6-1 in favour of Ubakala Babes FC.
In the last match of the day, Obosa FC and Osklean FC played out a goalless draw in a match that produced scoring opportunities, but both goalkeepers were on alert.
