Sen. Ibrahim Lamido (APC Sokoto-East) has donated eight tractors, six 18-seater buses and 30 cars as empowerment support to his constituents in Sokoto State.

Mr Lamido, who is the chairman, Senate committee on primary health care, presented the vehicles to the beneficiaries on Wednesday in Sokoto.

Represented by Kabiru Sarkin-Fulani, Mr Lamido said the gesture was part of economic empowerment initiatives, saying that most of his constituents were affected by banditry.

He said the vehicles included tractors, 18-seater buses, 10-seater Sharon vehicles, as well as other cars meant to uplift the socio-economic activities of the people.

The lawmaker expressed optimism that the vehicles would be used for farming, commercial transportation services and other engagements.

” This present gesture was a repeated exercise as many people have benefited with various forms of vehicle support, motorcycles, tricycles and business support.

”We offered slots of undergraduate and postgraduate foreign scholarship under our education support scheme,” Mr Lamido said.

According to him, he had also provided JAMB forms to students, paid registration fees to students studying in different tertiary institutions in the country, as well as provided stipends to secondary schools in the senatorial zone.

” We supported more than 2,000 students studying at different tertiary institutions across the country, provided motorcycles, business working tools and funds to youths and women for productive engagement in the district.

”We are focusing our political ideology on building and empowering the youth and other population to secure our future and the future of society,” he added.

Speaking also, Mu’azu Shamaki, said the lawmaker’s gesture had opened a new chapter of positive vision that created affordable and accessible education and other empowerment for his constituents.

Mr Shamaki said all the beneficiaries were selected from the eight local government areas of Sokoto East Senatorial District, adding that the gesture was part of distinct efforts to improve citizens’ living standards.

He called on the beneficiaries to ensure the judicious use of the items to better their lives and their communities, stressing that the efforts were aimed at expanding the legislative impacts to constituents.

A cross section of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation over the gesture and assured to support others in their respective settlements as well as support Mr Lamido and APC in the 2027 general elections.

The beneficiaries comprised traditional rulers, women and youth leaders, party officials, as well as chieftains, and others.

The local government areas in the constituency include: Sabon Birni, Rabah, Illela, Gada, Goronyo, Wurno, Gwadabawa and Isa.
