An Ilorin, Kwara State-based legal practitioner, Aliyu Abdullahi, has advocated the need for the government to support farmers in the country for adequate food production.

Mr Abdullahi, who gave the advice in Ilorin on Saturday during an interview with journalists, said support for farmers will boost the country’s economy.

According to him, farmers are left alone without enough support from the government to support their farming activities.

“The government should encourage farmers by giving them agricultural loans and incentives. That will increase their output. They will produce more than enough food for consumption and export, which will boost the country’s economy. Governments at all levels must prioritise agriculture and save Nigeria from economic challenges. Treat farmers like God and see the rapid boost in the economy,” he said.

The lawyer also advised the government at all levels to train farmers on the use of modern technology.

He also said that modern technology would ease farmers’ stress and increase their output.
