Leeds United, Burnley secure Premier League promotion

English Championship sides Leeds and Burnley have secured promotions back to the Premier League following a crucial win as the Clarets beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Turf Moor to seal their return to the top flight.
Burnley secured their return to the top flight with two first-half goals from Josh Brownhill to help his side secure a spot back in the Premier League.
Sheffield briefly responded with a goal from Tom Cannon, but they couldn’t stop Burnley from extending their unbeaten run to a club-record 31 games.
The win confirmed automatic promotion for both Burnley and Leeds.
Leeds thrashed their visitors, Stoke City, 6-0 at Elland Road after losing the play-off final to Southampton last season.
Joel Piroe was at his best, scoring four goals in the first-half to end his long goal drought.
The win took Leeds to 94 points, the same as Burnley and out of reach for third-placed Sheffield United, who remained on 86.
Daniel Farke, Leeds boss, praised his team’s performance under pressure. His side struggled earlier in the month, winning only once in six games, but bounced back at the perfect time with four straight wins.
Burnley weren’t as free-scoring as Leeds but relied on their strong backline, conceding just 15 goals all season. Manager Scott Parker praised his team’s discipline and unity. “We’ve been called boring, but we stuck to the plan and now we’re back where we belong,” he said.
