Leipzig stuns Leverkusen, ends historic unbeaten run
In a dramatic turn of events, RB Leipzig ended Bayer Leverkusen’s historic 35-match unbeaten league run with a thrilling 3-2 victory.
Leverkusen, who had dominated the Bundesliga this season, were finally brought down by Loïs Openda’s brace. The Belgian forward has now scored in his three appearances against Leverkusen, and his second goal on Saturday is helping to secure a famous Leipzig comeback victory against the champions.
Despite a strong start from Leipzig, Leverkusen took control of the match with goals from Jeremie Frimpong and Álex Grimaldo. However, Leipzig fought back with goals from Kevin Kampl and Lois Openda.
The defeat marks the end of Leverkusen’s impressive unbeaten streak and a significant setback for the reigning champions. Meanwhile, RB Leipzig’s victory extends their unbeaten run to 13 matches.
