The Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Zacchaeus Michael, has distributed 1,138 bags of 50 kg rice to residents across the 15 wards of the council.

Mr Zacchaeus, while distributing the items on Thursday in Kabba, said that the gesture was part of Governor Ahmed Ododo’s magnanimity in the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan and the Lenten season.

Represented by the Director of Local Government (DLG), Omolola Olorungbogun, the chairman urged citizens to use the opportunity to pray for the peace and progress of Kogi State and the country at large.

He said, “You know that Governor Ahmed Ododo is a man of the people. He sees and seizes opportunities such as this to reaffirm his commitment to the welfare of the citizens.’’

He appreciated the residents for massively supporting the All Progressives Congress in the last elections, assuring them that the party would fulfill its campaign promises.

Mr Zacchaeus noted that the prevailing peaceful atmosphere in the state was a result of the prayers and spiritual efforts of both Muslims and Christians.

“The governor appreciates your prayers for him, for this state, and for the nation. I urge you to continue in this spirit. The food relief is part of the governor’s effort to support the people during this sacred period and to assist the less privileged,” he said.

According to him, the distribution has been carefully planned to ensure that the items reach the most vulnerable individuals in all the 15 wards of the local government area.

He added, “We have put every measure in place to prevent diversion. Local government and ward sub-committees have been set up to oversee the distribution and ensure these items get to those who need them most.’’
