Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Moyo Ogunlewe, has restated commitment to ensuring that residents in the area have access to quality and efficient healthcare services.

Mr Ogunlewe made the commitment on Thursday when he visited the Ogudu 24-hour primary healthcare centre to inspect its facilities and address challenges affecting healthcare service delivery.

“Healthcare is one of the critical pillars of our administration. We will continue to invest in our primary healthcare centres to ensure that residents receive quality care in a conducive environment,” he said.

The chairman conducted an assessment of the centre’s infrastructure and equipment as part of efforts to improve healthcare services across the local government area.

During the inspection, he also visited sections of the facility affected by persistent flooding and directed relevant officials to immediately begin work on providing a permanent solution.

The chairman noted that the flooding challenge had persisted for some time and required urgent attention.

“We cannot allow environmental challenges to hinder healthcare delivery. I have directed the appropriate departments to develop a lasting solution to this flooding problem so that both staff and patients can enjoy a safer environment,” he said.

Mr Ogunlewe also interacted with patients, nursing mothers and healthcare workers, assuring them of the council’s continued support.

Also speaking, the Officer-in-Charge of the facility, Oluwatoyin Adebayo, appreciated the chairman for personally inspecting the centre and taking steps to address its challenges.

“The flooding issue has been a concern for us, especially during periods of heavy rainfall. We are encouraged by the chairman’s commitment to finding a permanent solution,” she said.

The chairman presented gifts to babies in the facility’s ward and pledged that the visit would not be a mere inspection exercise but would result in tangible improvements to the facility.

One of the nursing mothers, Yetunde Adeyemi, commended the chairman for the visit and the gifts presented to the children.

She stated, “We are happy to see the chairman here. His visit shows that the government is concerned about the welfare of residents and the condition of our healthcare facilities.”

The visit forms part of the council’s ongoing efforts to strengthen primary healthcare services and improve healthcare infrastructure across the local government area.
