The Chairman of Danko/Wasagu Local Government, Hussaini Aliyu, has released the names and classes of the 25 pupils of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, kidnapped by terrorists on Monday.

This came after U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore, in a statement on Tuesday, alleged that the abduction of the Maga schoolgirls took place in a Christian enclave and sought prayers for the victims.

“Please join me in praying for the 25 girls who have been kidnapped and for the repose of the soul of their vice principal, who was killed. While we don’t have all the details on this horrific attack, we know that the attack occurred in a Christian enclave in Northern Nigeria,” Mr Moore said.

However, Mr Aliyu, according to a report by the Nigerian Television Authority on Wednesday, dismissed Mr Moore’s claim as untrue and misleading at a time the government intensified efforts to rescue the victims.

The chairman further clarified that the abducted schoolgirls were Muslims, urging the U.S lawmaker to refrain from making unverified statements capable of undermining national unity.
