LG education secretaries endorse Oyo SUBEB boss for governor

The Forum of Education Secretaries in the 33 local government areas of Oyo state has endorsed Nureni Adeniran, the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, for governor in the 2027 election.
According to a statement on Friday, Mr Adeniran has a clear understanding of governance dynamics to lead the state.
“The SUBEB chairman is a grounded administrator with unequal competency, consistency, and his administrative experience places him in a strong position to lead Oyo state effectively,” the forum stated.
It said its decision demonstrated a commitment to maintaining good governance in the state.
The forum stated that SUBEB, under Mr Adeniran’s leadership, recorded improvements in infrastructure provision, school rehabilitation, transparency in teachers’ recruitment, and enhanced learning outcomes.
It further stated that the SUBEB boss’ policies and reforms had significantly improved basic education delivery across the state.
“Adeniran has demonstrated his love for the state through his fair dealings with every member of the forum from the different zones in Oyo state. His interactions with education stakeholders have always been marked by humility, accessibility, and a commitment to problem-solving.
“He is a visionary leader who has consistently demonstrated sincerity of purpose and an unwavering dedication to the growth of basic education in the state. The endorsement is not only about politics but also about competency.
“Adeniran has worked closely with us at the grassroots, and we have seen first-hand how his decisions positively impact both administrators and learners. We believe he is adequately prepared for the task of governance,” the forum stated.
