The Adamawa Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC) has pledged a level playing field for political parties ahead of July 13 local government council elections.

The commission’s chairman, Mohammed Jabu, gave the assurance while briefing journalists in Yola on Tuesday, shortly after a meeting with political parties.

The ADSIEC chairman said the commission was ready to conduct free, fair, and credible elections to develop democracy in the state.

“With the assurance of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, we are going to conduct free, fair and credible elections across the 21 local government areas of the state,” he said.

He said the commission had already submitted a budget proposal for the election and was waiting for approval.

Mr Jabu added that the electoral law stipulated the amount for nomination forms, such as N250,000 for chairmanship and N50,000 for councillors.

Bello Babajo, the chairman of the Inter-party Advisory Council (IPAC), said all political parties were ready to participate in the election.

He called on political parties to purchase the nomination forms, urging them to play the game according to the rules for a peaceful election.
