The National Orientation Agency has urged Plateau residents to come out en masse to exercise their franchise peacefully during the local government elections slated for Wednesday.

The NOA coordinator in Plateau, Keneng Pam-Hworo, said this on Monday in Jos during a sensitisation campaign to herald the election.

Ms Pam-Hworo said the exercise was to create awareness about the forthcoming elections across the 17 local government areas. The coordinator stated that the campaign was to ensure that the masses were well enlightened on what it entailed to exercise their civic responsibility.

She advised the electorates to shun all forms of voter apathy and avail themselves in choosing those that would lead at the third tier of government.

“Voting will commence at 8:00 am and end at 3:00 pm. Every voter must ensure that during voting, they thumbprint in the middle of the box provided and desist from signing on the ballot paper or squeezing the ballot paper to avoid invalid votes.

“The brail ballot papers would be provided for the blind. Those nursing the intention of causing violence or chaos at the polling units should refrain from such, as violators would be apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law,” she warned.
