Libya, WHO sign strategic health cooperation framework for 2026-2027
Libya’s health ministry and the World Health Organisation have signed a strategic cooperation framework outlining a technical partnership roadmap for 2026 to 2027.
The agreement, aimed at strengthening the country’s health system, was signed during a meeting in Tripoli by the health minister, Mohammed Al-Ghouj, and the WHO regional director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Hanan Balkhy.
Others who attended the meeting included the WHO country representative in Libya, Ahmed Zouiten, as well as technical teams from both sides.
The framework focuses on enhancing primary healthcare services, supporting clinics and hospitals, improving operational efficiency, and developing referral and response systems.
According to Libya’s government, Libyan authorities have been struggling to provide basic services for the people, including healthcare, due to years of armed conflict.
