LIRS extends deadline for filing individual annual tax returns to April 14

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, on Monday, announced the extension of the deadline for the filing of individual annual tax returns from April 1 to April 14, 2026.
LIRS executive chairman, Ayodele Subair, in a statement signed by the head of corporate communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, stated that the yearly deadline for filing individual annual tax returns is March 31.
Mr Subair said the LIRS, “has extended the deadline for filing of individual annual tax returns by two weeks, from April 1 to April 14, 2026,” explained that the statutory deadline for filing individual annual tax returns is March 31, every year.
Noting that the extension is aimed at providing individuals additional time to complete and submit accurate tax returns, he insisted that individuals must give priority to the timely filing of their annual income tax returns, adding that compliance should be embedded as a routine personal practice.
Mr Subair reiterated that “electronic filing, through the LIRS e-tax platform remains the only approved method for submitting annual returns, as manual filings have been completely phased out,” noting that “individuals are therefore required to file their returns exclusively through the LIRS eTax portal: ‘https://etax.lirs.net’”, which is currently used for submissions.
