LIRS extends individual tax filing deadline to April 21

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has extended the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026.
LIRS Executive Chairman Ayodele Subair confirmed this in a statement on Saturday, issued by Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, head of corporate communications.
He said the extension followed an earlier shift to April 14, citing increased traffic on the electronic tax platform as taxpayers rushed to comply.
Mr Subair explained that the decision was intended to give taxpayers additional time to complete their filings successfully.
He said, “The extension responds to overwhelming compliance and is intended to enhance convenience while ensuring accuracy and integrity of submissions.”
Mr Subair reiterated that filing annual income tax returns remains a statutory obligation, urging taxpayers to take advantage of what he described as a final extension.
He emphasised that all returns must be filed electronically through the designated eTax platform.
The chairman reaffirmed that the online platform remains the only approved channel for submissions.
He advised taxpayers requiring assistance to visit any LIRS office or contact its official communication channels.
