Liverpool lynch Man City at Anfield, Red Devils scorch Everton

Manchester City’s recent woes continued on Sunday evening after Pep Guardiola’s side recorded their sixth consecutive defeats in the Premier League this season following a 2-0 loss to league leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
The defeat against Liverpool marked the first time City had such a bad run since August 2008 and the longest time Guardiola has gone in his managerial career without a win, with six losses and one draw from his last seven games across all competitions.
Cody Gakpo put Liverpool ahead 12 minutes into the tie after the unmarked Dutch forward only had to tap a through from Mohamed Salah into an open net. Salah would go on to score from the spot late in the second half to secure the Reds’ first victory against City in two years.
The win extended Liverpool’s lead on the league table to nine points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, who are on 25 points, while City, on 23 points, dropped to fifth with Chelsea and Brighton ahead of the defending champions.
Meanwhile, it was a great day for fans on the other side of Manchester as United thrashed Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford in Ruben Amorim’s first league win as the new head coach of the Red Devils.
One goal apiece for Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee ensured Man United lead 2-0 at halftime before both players replicated the same feat in the second half to secure the emphatic win for the Red Devils.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea defeated Aston Villa 3-0 to go third in the league, with Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer on the scoresheet.
Tottenham and Fulham settled for a one-all draw.
