Arsenal dropped from top of the Premier League table to second place after the Gunners played out a goalless draw against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.

It was an important clash between the two teams eyeing the converted silverware at the end of the season but had to share the spoils in the game dominated by City.

City finished the game with 72 per cent possession and – a total of 12 shots in the game but the lack of dominance in the third half meant that only one of those was on target.

Arsenal, with only 28 per cent, managed two shots on target from six total attempts.

The result meant Arsenal drop to second of the table with 65 points from 29 games with one point ahead of City from the same number of matches as Jurgen Klopp’s men have now claimed the number spot.

Meanwhile, with 67 points, Liverpool moved to top of the table after a hard-earned 2-1 win over Brighton at the Anfield Stadium on Sunday courtesy of goals by Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

Barely 60 seconds into the game, former Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck gave Brighton before Diaz equalised for Liverpool in the 27th minute after Joel Veltman failed to clear the ball from the danger area allowing the Colombian to poke it in.

In the 65th minute, Liverpool managed to score the winner thanks to Salah’s goal from an assist by Alexis Mac Allister – he gave the Egyptian a cool pass who superbly beat Verbruggen with a left-footed finish.

Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal have seven matches remaining this season and the title fight will definitely continue to be competitive among them.
