LP contesting to win in Lagos; won’t compromise, says guber candidate

Ifagbemi Awamaridi, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, says the party is contesting to win elections in the state.
Mr Awamaridi, who made this remark in an interview on Monday in Lagos, said the party would not compromise the various ambitions of the party for monetary advances.
“Labour party is out to contest and win elections in the state. We have never compromised with anybody on elections in Lagos. Labour Party has never engaged in any act of compromise of the masses’ interest. We are contesting to win elections,” he said.
Mr Awamaridi said the party would not negotiate for cash out, just as he expressed optimism that he would emerge as Lagos governor in 2023.
“I am contesting for the Governorship of Lagos State, and I am going to win this time around,” Mr Awamaridi said, adding that the party would not want to disclose its strategies to win the state.
“Our winning is going to be possible because we know what we have done. We have mapped out 10 popular programmes we call our frontline charges and priorities. These are not compromisable,” he added.
The governorship aspirant said that only the LP could rescue the country and the state from the present challenges.
The candidate, who noted that the LP had a lot of programmes for the state, said the party is committed to restructuring the country.
Mr Awamaridi listed some of the party’s cardinal programmes to include free and compulsory education up to the tertiary level, health services, internet connection, potable water, electricity, employment and a living wage for workers.
