LP governorship candidate rejects Anambra poll results, cites vote buying, underage voting

Labour Party candidate in the November 8 Anambra State governorship election, George Moghalu, has rejected the results of the poll.
Incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday hours after Mr Soludo was declared the winner, Mr Moghalu alleged irregularities in the process, adding that the election was characterised by massive vote-buying.
He stated, “The November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, in my view, fell short of expectations. I hereby reject it in its entirety. I have contested in previous elections, but this one was different. The level of vote buying was alarming.”
Mr Moghalu further alleged underage voting, saying issues such an issue questioned the integrity of the process.
The politician stated, “Children who were not supposed to be carrying voter cards were openly seen with them and allowed to vote. These are issues that raise questions about the integrity of the process.”
Mr Moghalu vowed to take a comprehensive action upon receiving detailed reports of the election.
Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has commended the new INEC chairman, Joash Amupitan, and his team for conducting a credible and transparent election based on available reports.
“I charge the commission to maintain this standard and continue to improve on its performance to further strengthen our electoral system,” the president said on Sunday.
