Makinde hails Oyo workers for driving government’s progress

Governor Seyi Makinde says his administration’s achievements stem from the “cooperation and support” consistently shown by the Oyo State workforce.
He spoke on Friday in Ibadan during the 2025 Public Service Week and Merit Award Ceremony for public and civil servants.
Mr Makinde said his team had rebuilt infrastructure and improved key sectors because workers had shown “dedication to duty and commitment to Oyo’s progress.”
He noted that his administration had been “lucky to serve with individuals who prioritise development and the collective good of the state.”
The governor pledged to keep prioritising workers’ welfare and well-being as part of his long-standing policy direction.
He congratulated award recipients, praising them for “meritorious service”, and urged them to keep pursuing excellence in their duties.
Mr Makinde further encouraged them to invest in their children’s training to secure stronger opportunities for the future.
The civil and public service honoured him for worker-friendly policies sustained since he assumed office in 2019.
Head of service, Olubunmi Oni, praised Mr Makinde for his “unwavering commitment” to the welfare and development of the state workforce.
She thanked him for strengthening Public Service Week and elevating it as a platform for growth, service pride and excellence.
Mrs Oni described Mr Makinde as a “labour-friendly governor who recognises public service as the engine of development.”
