Mambilla power project lying waste, Babangida Aliyu tells Tinubu

Babangida Aliyu, the chairman of the board of trustees of the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, has urged President Bola Tinubu to change the narrative of the Mambilla Power Project in Taraba.
Mr Aliyu made the call in his remarks at the two-day interactive session on government-citizen engagement on Tuesday in Kaduna. He alleged that the project was not properly handled.
Payment of the compensation for the land has not been made, “and yet, the amount of money sunk into the Mambilla Hydro Power Project is of great concern that needs to be addressed”, said Mr Aliyu.
“The project has been on for years without any commensurate development to the funds sunk in the project. I call on the federal government under President Bola Tinubu to change such a narrative of the Mambilla Hydro Power project and do the needful,” the former Niger governor stated.
He narrated how a former president was misled into inaugurating a port in Baro, and it never functioned.
Mr Aliyu called on the government to also consider dredging parts of the River Niger and other projects that would benefit the North and the country as a whole.
