Man, 22, remanded over alleged damage, stealing

An Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand at the correctional centre, of a 22-year-old man, Bakare Ridwan, for allegedly damaging and stealing electric cables worth N1.8 million.
The defendant, whose address was not stated, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on the offence.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Following his plea, the Magistrate, T.A. Shotobi, ordered that he be remanded at the correctional centre until March 26, for review of facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Christian Okonofua, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on February 20 at about 3:30 a. m. at Owode-Rabaka, Ibeshe area of Ikorodu, Lagos.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully damaged and stole 30 meters XLPE electric cables belonging to Ikeja Electrics.
The cables are worth N1.8 million.
He said the offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
