Man, 24, in court for allegedly stealing umbrella 

The police prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

A man, Biremoni Adeniyi, 24, alleged to have stolen an umbrella, was dragged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Adeniyi, who is facing a charge of stealing,

pleaded not guilty to offence.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 9 at about 4:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant stole an umbrella valued at N10,000 belonging to Adeola Adebola.

Adeniyi said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.

There was no counsel to represent the defendant.

The Chief Magistrate, Dolamu Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case till May 12 for hearing.
