An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Ogba, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 26-year-old man, Musa Bukar, at the Correctional Centre, over alleged threat to life of a police officer.

The Magistrate, Lateef Owolabi, did not take the plea of the defendant but ordered that the case file be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice

He consequently, adjourned the case  until July 22, for mention.

The defendant whose address was not provided was brought to court on a three-count charge bordering on threat to life, obstructing a police officer on duty and breach of peace.

The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere told the court that the defendant committed the offences on June 21, at about 2p.m. at Ogba.

Ms Ikhayere alleged that the defendant threatened to kill one ASP Emmanuel Enofe, attached to Area “G” Command, Ogba.

She said that the defendant obstructed the police officer while he was performing his lawful duties by failing to obey his order.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to breach public peace, by proclaiming to be a member of a terrorist group.

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 117, 168 and 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
