A 27-year-old man, Musubahu Shehu, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing nylon bags valued at N520,000 from a marketplace.

Shehu is standing trial before Magistrate Funke Ogun, on a one-count charge of stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Esther Adesulu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 1, at the Alaba Rago Market in Ojo.

She said that the defendant stole quantities of nylon bags valued at N520,000, belonging to one complainant, Ashiru Lawal, at the market.

She said that the defendant was arrested following the alleged stealing and consequently detained.

She added that the offence contravenes the provisions of section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.

The magistrate granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until May 13, for mention.
