Man, 28, in court for allegedly stealing goat

The police, on Thursday, arraigned a 28-year-old man, Popoola Kehinde, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a goat.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on Feb.10 in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant and others at large stole a goat valued about N80, 000 belonging to one Babalola Ayomide.
Mr Oriyomi said that the offence contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendant, Oluwafemi Alabi, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till April 28, for hearing.
