Man, 29, remanded in prison custody for stealing

The Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, John Christian, for pleading guilty to stealing property valued at N1.9 million.
Chief magistrate N.A. Layeni remanded him in Awahjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge bordering on breaking, entry and stealing.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until February 13 for facts and sentencing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant unlawfully broke into the residence of Elvis Okojie, the complainant, with the intent to commit a felony.
The prosecutor said the defendant stole property valued at N1.9 million from the complainant.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened sections 307 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
