Man, 31, arraigned over alleged negligent conduct

The police on Thursday charged a 31-year-old man, Peter Amos, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged negligent conduct.
The defendant is standing trial on charges bordering on negligence and conduct likely to breach peace.
He was alleged to have failed to restrain his dog, which invaded a poultry farm, to kill broilers and turkeys worth N1.5 million.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Inspector Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in October, at Ido in Ibadan.
Adegbite alleged that the defendant neglected his duty and allowed his dog to enter into the farm of one Mrs Glory Akadiri.
He alleged that the dog killed some broilers and turkeys worth N1.5 million belonging to the complainant
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace, by threatening to beat up the farm owner.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 249(d) and 344 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira, with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until January 20, 2026, for hearing.
