Man, 34, in court for alleged theft of two laptops worth 16 million

A 34-year-old man, Ahmed Kuya, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two mac-book laptops, valued at N16.5 million
Kuya, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Sp. Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in March at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos.
She alleged that Kuya stole the two laptops with serial numbers HPFW47J95M 14 inches M4 pro clip with 24g and F4GRXJK00K Mac-book pro, 14 inches M4 pro clip with 24gb in March 2025 respectively.
She further stated that the items belonged to one Oluwaseun Olamide and valued at N16.5 million.
Ms Ikhayere claimed that the offence contravened Section 287(5)(a)(b)(c) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
She urged the court to adjourn the case to enable her to study the case file and assemble her witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
The Magistrate, L.A Owolabi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N350,000 with two reliable sureties in like sum.
He said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and present proof of tax payments with their addresses verified.
The court later adjourned the case until June 3, for hearing.
