Man, 35, remanded over alleged burglary, stealing

The magistrate refused the plea of the defendant.

The police on Wednesday brought an application before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, seeking remand of a 35-year-old man, Ibrahim Ismail, over alleged burglary and stealing.

In a form K filed by the police, the prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, said that the defendant committed the offence on January 29, at about 04:00 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant conspired with others at large, to break into the house of one Augustine Felix, to steal a TVS ladies motorcycle valued at N1.5 million.

According to him, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 302, 322(c) and 421 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

The plea of the defendant was not taken.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant at the correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The Chief Magistrate, Taiwo Ajibade, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

She adjourned the case untill March 31, for mention.(NAN) (
