Man arraigned for flogging woman in Kano
A 50-year-old man, Ahmadu Muhammad, was on Thursday arraigned before a Kano Sharia Court, for allegedly intimidating a woman.
Mr Muhammad, a resident of Zaidawa Fulani Village in Danbatta faces a two-count charge of criminal use of force and intimidation.
The Prosecutor, Abdul Wada, told the court that a woman, Hajara Umaru of Zaidawa Fulani village, Danbatta, reported the matter at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Bompai Police Division, Kano on December 20.
Mr Wada alleged that on the same day at about 07:00 p.m., the defendant had an argument with the complainant which led to Mr Muhammad beating her with a cane and ordering his wives to kill her.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 266, 397, 165 and 227 of the Penal Code.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Bello Khalid, granted him bail with two reliable sureties who must be his blood relations.
Mr Khalid adjourned the matter until February 3 for mention.
