Man arrested for allegedly killing Adamawa court clerk over summons
The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of one Linus Dimas, for allegedly stabbing to death a court clerk, identified as Yauba Usman, sent to serve him a summons.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, stating that its operatives arrested the suspect on Monday.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect declined a subpoena served on him by Mr Usman, who is a staff member at the Nasarawa Jereng Area Court and subsequently stabbed him to death on December 18, 2023.
The statement revealed that Dimas, a 43-year-old resident of Kugama Wuro Jibir, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state, committed the crime on Monday.
“The suspect, on December 18, 2023, rejected a court summons served on him by Yauba Usman, a staff member of Nasarawa Jereng Area Court and stabbed him severally with a knife, thereby inflicting deep cuts on him,” it read.
Disclosing that the court clerk was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead, the spokesperson said, “The commissioner of police directs that the case be discreetly investigated.’’
