Man City, Chelsea dumped out of Champions League; Real, PSG, Arsenal advance

Paris Saint-Germain put on another brilliant masterclass, beating Chelsea 3-0 as Real Madrid edged Manchester City 2-1 at Etihad on Tuesday. On the same night, Sporting knocked out underdogs Bodo/Glimt with an amazing comeback.
Luis Enrique’s PSG completed the round of 16, eliminating Chelsea in both legs after last week’s 5-2 win.
The Blues suffered another defeat, conceding two early goals in the first 15 minutes—one by Kvaratskhelia, the other by Bradley Barcola.
Another came in the second half of the game from teenage wonder Senny Mayulu.
Liam Rosenior’s side suffered a huge injury setback as Trevor Chalobah was stretchered off the field.
The Blues had numerous chances but were denied by PSG’s goalkeeper, Safonov. They suffered a heavy 8-2 aggregate loss in London, their worst ever defeat in Europe.
The current holders advance to the quarter finals to face either Liverpool or Galatasaray.
Over in Portugal, Sporting ended underdogs Bodo/Glimt’s fairy-tale performance after having a three-goal lead in Norway last week.
The Portuguese giants scored five goals to put the game 5-3 on aggregate to advance to the Champions League quarter-finals to face Arsenal.
At the Etihad, Real Madrid beat Pep Guardiola’s side 2-1 on the night and 5-1 on aggregate, as Vinicius netted a brace to send his side through.
City suffered an early setback as Bernardo Silva was sent off for blocking a goal-bound shot with his arm. The home side tried to respond with a goal from Erling Haaland, but it was not enough to change the outcome.
Mikel Arteta’s side advanced to the Champions League last eight, knocking out Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 with a stunning strike from Arsenal’s No. 10.
Declan Rice scored after the break for his first Champions League goal, as the Gunners sealed the win to face Manchester City at Wembley for the EFL Cup final.
