Manchester City players have agreed to reimburse the money paid by fans who travelled to Norway for the club’s humiliating 3-1 defeat to Bodo/Glimt in their Champions League tie on Tuesday. 

In a joint statement by the club captains Bernardo Silva, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Erling Haaland on Tuesday, they sympathised with the fans who made the journey from the United Kingdom to Norway to support the team.

The statement said, “Our supporters mean everything to us. We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world.

“We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the freezing cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch. Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodo is the least we can do.”

According to Sky Sports, 374 Manchester City fans made the trip for the game, and with ticket price costing £25 each, the players are expected to reimburse the supporters £9,350.

Following the loss to Manchester United on Saturday and the latest one on Tuesday, Manchester City will hope to return to winning ways against Wolves in the battle with Arsenal for the league title.
