A man, Zachariah Jinge on Monday dragged his younger brother, Ngusha, before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for allegedly displacing him of his birthright.

The brothers admitted that their aged father, who retired from the Benue Civil Service in 1996, was ill and currently staying with a relation.

In his petition, Mr Jinge alleged that his younger brother has taken away his birthright (father’s house).

“My brother collects rent from our father’s house without my knowledge. By this, he has displaced me of my birthright as the oldest son of the family.”

The older brother said that “All efforts made to stop my younger brother failed,” and prayed the court to restrain his younger brother from further renting their father’s houses and shop.

The defendant, Ngusha, prayed for an adjournment to open his defence, and Magistrate Dooshima Ikpambese adjourned the case until March 28 for defence.
