The police command in Gombe says it arrested Ibrahim Saidu, 25, for stabbing a motorcyclist to death.
The victim was said to have mistakenly knocked down his dog.
The dog survived the crash and was paraded at the police command.
Police commissioner Ishola Babaita said in a press briefing that Mr Saidu was arrested by cops from Akko Division where the incident took place.
“Saidu became aggressive and stabbed Saleh Babayo which resulted in his untimely death, simply because the victim mistakenly knocked down his dog with his motorcycle,” explained the police chief.
The commissioner added that Mr Babayo was taken to the General Hospital, Kumo, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
He also mentioned that the suspect had confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court.
In another development, Mr Babaita stated that five suspects were arrested for kidnapping while two other suspects were arrested for impersonation and rape.
According to him, items seized from the suspects included one AK-47 with three rounds of 7.62mm of live ammunition and two cutlasses..
He assured Gombe residents of the command’s readiness and commitment to combat crimes while appealing to them to provide the police with useful information to nip crimes in the bud.
Mr Babaita warned individuals and groups engaging in nefarious activities to stop, adding that the command would leave no stone unturned in combating crimes.
