Man remanded for alleged drug peddling in Oyo

A middle-aged drug peddling suspect, Ifeoluwa Abiodun, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to an alleged offence of peddling 4.2kg of marijuana and 9.2gms of methaphetamine, a psychotropic substance.
The prosecutor, A.A. Balogun, had told the court that the defendant committed the crime on July 8, at Owogbowo area, Igbo Ora Town, Ibarapa Central, Oyo State.
Mrs Balogun further said that operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State command, acted on a tip-off by informants that Abiodun was into the business of illicit drug peddling.
According to her, the operatives apprehended the defendant in possession of a sack, containing 4.2kg of cannabis sativa, otherwise called marijuana, and 9.2gms of methaphetamine.
She said that the offences contravened the provision of sections 11(C ) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 Laws of the Federation 2004.
Abiodun pleaded guilty to the two-count amended charge preferred against him.
Consequently, Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered that he be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre.
Ms Maha, thereafter, adjourned the case to October 29 for presentation of facts and judgment.
