Man remanded for raping five-year-old girl

A Kano chief magistrates’ court has ordered that a 20-year-old man, Nazifi Nura, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional centre and adjourned the matter until May 26 for further mention.
The accused is standing trial on a one-count charge of rape.
The prosecution counsel, Maryam Jibrin, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 2, in Dawakin Tofa local government area of Kano.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant lured the five-year-old girl into his room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her.
The defendant denied committing the offence.
