The Akure Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded one Folorunso Bisoye in the Correctional Centre, Ondo, for unlawfully gaining access to the residence of Ondo State Attorney General ( AG), Charles Titiloye.

The prosecution counsel, Mr Titiloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 7, 2023, in the middle of the night in his residence on Oda Road, Akure.

He added that the defendant wilfully damaged his perimeter fence worth N400,000 during the unlawful access.

Mr Titiloye said he caught the defendant in his residence with intention to steal.

The prosecution counsel explained that the defendant committed the offence with others still at large.

Mr Titiloye told the court that he had three witnesses against the defendant.

He asked the court to reprimand the defendant in correctional centre, considering the gravity of the offence and the time it was committed.

According to him, the police were still tracking other suspects.

In his response, A.B Ogunmeta, the defence counsel, opposed the prosecution counsel’s submission.

Mr Ogunmeta said that the alleged offences were bailable.

He told the court that the defendant and the nominal complainant, Mr Titiloye, were neighbours, promising the defendant would bring reliable sureties if granted bail.

In his ruling, the magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, said that the allegation of burglary committed in the night was beyond the court’s jurisdiction.

Mr Sekoni ordered the defendant to be remanded in the correctional centre in Ondo till June 14 to receive legal advice from the state Directorate of Public Prosecution ( DPP).

He advised the defendant’s counsel to ask the defendant’s bail in the state High Court if desired.
