Man remanded over alleged defilement of minor

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday arraigned a man, Stephen Okparea, in an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, for allegedly defiling a 14-year-old girl (name withheld).
Okparea, who was arraigned on a charge of defilement, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The state counsel, Dare Dada, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence in March 2023, at Ago-Owu Street in Shogunle, Lagos.
Mr Dada alleged the defendant defiled the minor by having unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
According to him, the alleged offence contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Justice Rahman Oshodi remanded the defendant in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Mr Oshodi adjourned the case until July 8, for the commencement of the trial.
