Premier League side Manchester United has announced that veteran midfielder Casemiro will leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season.

The club announced this in a statement on Thursday, ending speculation about the future of the former Real Madrid player at Old Trafford.

“Casemiro will leave Manchester United this summer, upon the expiry of his contract,” Manchester United said. “The legendary midfielder has enjoyed four seasons at the club, playing 146 games and scoring 21 goals to date.”

The 33-year-old joined Manchester United from Real Madrid in August 2022 and has won two trophies, including the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, in which he scored a crucial header in the final against Newcastle United.

Reacting to the announcement, Casemiro said he will continue to carry the club in his heart even after leaving, noting that Manchester United fans have been supportive since the first day he arrived at the club.

“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club,” he said.

“It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
