Manchester beat Aston Villa 3-1 to boost Champions League qualification

Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-1 to increase their chances of securing their spot to return to European football.
The Reds Devils opened the scoring after a goalless first half at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Casemiro converted a set-piece advantage with a brilliant corner delivery from United’s captain Bruno Fernandes to allow the midfielder to head it home for his side.
Minutes after the opening goal, Unai Emery’s side responded with a goal from Ross Barkley in the 64th minute, following several deflections in United‘s 18-yard area.
The home side were back in front with a goal from Matheus Cunha in the 71st minute, following another swift delivery from Bruno Fernandes with a perfect through ball.
The assist marks Fernandes’ 100th assist as a Manchester United player and breaks David Beckham’s record of 15 assists by a United player in a Premier League season, taking the skipper to 16 assists this season.
Manchester United increased the advantage to three goals with another goal from the bench, as Benjamin Sesko scored quickly in Villa’s crowded box, making it 10 goals and assists this season for the young forward.
The victory moves Michael Carrick’s side three points above Villa, marking Emery’s third defeat of the season and continuing their poor league form as their spot is eyed by Liverpool and Chelsea.
Other fixtures on the matchday saw Liverpool draw 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur, with goals from Dominic Szoboszlai from an early free-kick and a late equaliser from Richarlison, ending Spurs’ losing streak and easing their relegation scare.
Crystal Palace levelled with Leeds United, while Nottingham Forest and Fulham drew 0-0 at the City Ground, each settling for a point.
