Manchester City to face Liverpool in Carabao Cup fourth round
Manchester City will face Liverpool in the fourth round of this year’s Carabao Cup in a match featuring two of the remaining three big six clubs.
Manchester United are lucky enough to be paired against Burnley.
It will be another interesting match when Liverpool and City clash in December in the fixture that has become frequent this season – the match would be their third outing in the space of six months.
Meanwhile, following an impressive comeback victory over Aston Villa last night, Manchester United look to have a clear advantage of heading to the competition’s quarterfinals after being drawn against EFL Championship side Burnley in what would be a return for Vincent Kompany to Old Trafford.
In the other fixtures for the fourth round, Wolves have been paired against League Two outfit Gillingham FC and Joe Ariyo’s Southampton against Lincoln City. Blackburn will lock horns against Emmanuel Dennis and Taiwo Awoniyi’s Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle play Bournemouth in another all-Premier League affair. Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester City have MK Dons to contend with for a place in the last eight. Brighton will face League One side Charlton Athletic.
The fourth round ties are set to take place on December 21 and 22 – just days after the FIFA World Cup final.
