Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest, face Newcastle in Carabao Cup final
Manchester United are through to the final of the Carabao League Cup following a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the return leg of the second semi-final fixture at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
It is United’s third victory over Forest this season as ‘The Tricky Trees’ continue their search for a win over the Red Devils since the 2-1 surprising victory at Old Trafford in 1994.
Having won the first leg 3-0 at City Ground last week, the Red Devils only needed a draw or avoid a defeat by more than a three-goal scoreline margin, but two late strikes in the second half were enough for United to complete a doubleheader over Forest.
Manchester United will take on Newcastle United on February 26, who defeated Southampton 3-1 on aggregate in the other semi-final fixture in the final of this year’s Carabao Cup at Wembley Stadium.
The game would be the Maggies’ first appearance in a league final since 47 years ago, while it will be United’s first Wembley final in five years as they bid to win the trophy the Red Devils last won in 2017.
