Many injured, properties destroyed in Rivers gas explosion

Several people sustained fire injuries in a late Saturday gas station explosion at Adros Gas Plant, along the road to the airport in Rumuodomaya, Rivers State.
The explosion ripped through the facility in Port-Harcourt suburb barely 24 hours after a similar natural gas explosion killed at least five people with several others badly injured in the neighbouring Delta State.
A video clip posted on social media showed the magnitude of the explosion in Rivers on Saturday night. Firefighters were not immediately seen at the scene of the inferno, whose cause was not immediately clear. The fire was ultimately put out by nearby residents.
On Monday, a petrol tanker exploded in Abeokuta after running into barricades at a high speed, leaving at least three killed and several people and valuable properties damaged. On the same day, another fire incident was reported at Sokoto Central Market in the country’s northwest.
