Marwa describes late Akran of Badagry as teacher, journalist

The chairman of the NDLEA, Brig.-Gen. Mohammed Marwa (rtd), has described the late Akran of Badagry, in Lagos State, Aholu Menu Toyi I, as a great teacher.
Mr Marwa also described the deceased traditional ruler as an accomplished journalist during a condolence visit to the family and royal council at the Akran Palace, Badagry, on Friday.
“His Majesty was a man of his word. He was a great teacher and an accomplished journalist,” Mr Marwa said.
He praised the royal father’s discipline and respect for protocol, recalling his conduct throughout his reign.
“In spite of the free access he had to me, he would always call ahead to inform me of his visit,” Mr Marwa added.
Mr Marwa recounted his final encounter with the traditional ruler, describing it as a memorable moment marked by mutual respect and faith.
“Although he was a Christian, we still prayed together. Today is another Friday, and I am here to say farewell to his soul,” he said.
The NDLEA chairman thanked the Badagry community for its cooperation, noting the cordial relationship that helped sustain peace in the community.
He prayed for the family, chiefs and people of Badagry, describing the traditional ruler’s death as an irreparable loss.
The chairman of Badagry Local Government Area, Babatunde Hunpe, commended Marwa for his leadership at the NDLEA.
Mr Hunpe thanked him for personally paying a condolence visit to the palace.
Responding, Adeyemi Akran, the traditional ruler’s first son, expressed gratitude to the delegation for the visit.
He urged them to continue promoting peace and remembering the family during the period of mourning.
