Matawalle secures 40% discount on federal houses for Zamfara workers

Governor Bello Matawalle has secured a 40 per cent discount on the sale of the 168 Daza Housing Estate occupied by Zamfara civil servants.
Mr Matawalle’s government announced the discount in a statement by information commissioner Ibrahim Dosara on Tuesday.
The 168 Daza Housing Estate, Gusau, was built under the Federal Mortgage Housing Scheme and allocated to Zamfara civil servants on an owner-occupier basis.
The statement explained that the governor secured the discount as part of efforts to provide affordable accommodation for civil servants in Zamfara.
“The 168 housing units initially sold at N6.8 million is now N4 million for the occupants. The government also obtained a waiver of N84 million accrued interest on the houses on behalf of the civil servants,” the Zamfara government stated.
According to the statement, the Zamfara government also secured 58 housing units scheduled for liquidation.
The statement quoted the Zamfara head of civil service, Kabiru Mohammed, saying “the most outstanding achievements of the governor in recent times in the state.”
