The Kaduna State Level Working Group (SLWG) on the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) has congratulated workers in the state and across Nigeria on this year’s Workers’ Day, commending their resilience and contributions to national development.

In a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna, the group’s chairman, Terngu Gwar, described Nigerian workers as the backbone of society, whose daily efforts sustain institutions and drive progress.

“Workers’ Day reminds us of the dignity of labour, the resilience of the Nigerian worker, and the collective contributions you make daily toward national development,” Mr Gwar said.

He noted that the pursuit of justice, fairness, and human rights within the criminal justice system is closely linked to the welfare and protection of workers, particularly those in law enforcement, the judiciary, correctional services, and related sectors.

According to him, personnel in these institutions continue to uphold the rule of law despite challenging conditions, a commitment he described as commendable and indispensable.

The chairman also stressed the need for full implementation of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law in Kaduna State, noting that an efficient, transparent, and humane justice system would strengthen public trust and provide a more supportive environment for workers.

“A functional justice system ensures clear standards, accountability, and respect for human rights, which ultimately benefits those who work within it,” he added.

Mr Gwar called on government institutions, civil society organisations, and the private sector to prioritise improved working conditions, continuous capacity development, and the protection of workers’ rights.

He emphasised that building a just society begins with a workforce that is valued, protected, and empowered.

“Your labour builds our society, sustains our institutions, and shapes our future. We stand with you today and always,” he said.
