A former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, has lauded Governor Peter Mbah for his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying that it was not a betrayal.

Mr Chime made the remark on his social media page while reacting to the defections by Mr Mbah and some political leaders and appointees in Enugu on Tuesday.

According to him, political realignment is not betrayal; it is the courage to follow a vision when old paths can no longer carry the dream.

Mr Chime dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the APC shortly after the end of his second term as the Enugu State governor in 2016.

The former governor, during his defection, described the PDP as a “dead party” following a leadership crisis rocking the party.

The immediate past governor of the state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, was among those who decamped to the APC.

Others were some members of the national and state assembly, former PDP executives, local government chairmen, and members of the State Executive Council, among others.
