Mechanic sentenced to prison for misappropriation of funds

On Monday, a Jos Magistrates’ Court sentenced a 22-year-old mechanic, Mustapha Saad, to nine months in prison for diverting the money kept in his care to personal use.
Magistrate Shawomi Bokkos summarily tried and sentenced the convict who pleaded guilty to the charge.
The convict was given an option of a fine of N20,000 or to spend three months in prison.
The magistrate also ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N90,000 to the complainant or spend another six months in prison.
Prosecutor Ijuptil Thiawar told the court that the case was reported at the ‘C’ Division Police Station on March 20, by Auwal Jibrin, the complainant.
Mr Thiawar said the convict was given N80,000 to keep, but he spent the money on his personal needs.
