Mohammed Lugerewo re-elected Gombe Assembly speaker

Mohammed Lugerewo, the immediate past speaker of the sixth House of Assembly in Gombe State, has been re-elected for the seventh assembly.
Mr Lugerewo, a member representing Akko Central under the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged unopposed during the inauguration of the seventh Assembly on Wednesday in Gombe.
Nasiru Abdulkarim of the APC, a member representing Dukku North, nominated the speaker and was seconded by Zubeiru Ayala, representing Billiri East under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Sadam Bello of the APC, representing Funakaye North, emerged as the deputy speaker unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Lugerewo promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
The speaker solicited the support of his colleagues and promised to continue to apply the principles of transparency and accountability.
He also thanked the Governor Inuwa Yahaya-led administration for providing leadership that positively impacted the lives of the common man in Gombe.
Yarima Ladan-Gaule emerged as the majority leader, Nasir Abdulkarim as deputy majority leader, Musa Buba as chief whip, and Adamu Sale as deputy chief whip.
Others were Zubairu Ayala as minority leader, Milan Yari as deputy minority leader, Yakubu Daniel as minority whip, and Gabriel Galadima as deputy minority whip.
